Disability Lead's network continues to lead in the face of an ever-changing world that threatens human rights daily. At the heart of our work, we ensure there are strong disability perspectives in leadership spaces because we believe that our leaders will change the world. By connecting our leaders to civic engagement opportunities, we believe our leaders can and will create solutions for our most intractable social problems because they are inherently disability issues. The unchecked ableism in our society makes it so that some prosper and some people who sit at the intersections of identities, like Risa Rifkind, have a nearly impossible path toward any kind of power and prosperity. Why? Because the systems are built by the people who benefit from them. But it's time for that to end. Risa explores this through her experiences.
