David Ernesto Munar

David Munar is devoted to building comprehensive systems of care and prevention that meet the needs of vulnerable populations. David has served on numerous advisory councils for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Health Resources Services Administration, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and gubernatorial and mayoral transition teams. David currently serves on the governing Board of the Pediatric AIDS Chicago Prevention Initiative, Funders Concerned About AIDS, Center for Housing and Health, and Equality Illinois.

David currently serves as president and chief executive officer at Equitas Health. He is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight of the organization. He works to ensure the delivery of quality, affordable, and affirming healthcare to the LGBTQ+ community, people living with HIV/AIDS, and anyone looking for a welcoming healthcare home. He works closely with Equitas Health’s Board of Trustees, staff, and community partners to advocate for equitable access to healthcare for the communities Equitas Health serves.

David has devoted his entire professional career to building comprehensive systems of care and prevention that meets the needs of people left out or kept out of traditional healthcare systems. He brings over 30 years of experience in healthcare and advocacy, serving the last ten years as CEO of Howard Brown Health.  He is a graduate of Northwestern University.
